Welcome to the new website for the Broadneck Baseball and Softball Club.
We are very excited about the upcoming season, and we are excited about all of the new things
we are offering our members. Our new website will provide a wealth of useful information for parents,
players and coaches, including schedules for all divisions, league standings, features on recent games and outstanding players,
a calendar of BBSC events and information on fields and sponsors. We not
only have a new web site - we also have a new way of registering for BBSC that we hope will make things easier
for you. Registration is
now open at this web site and will remain open until March 1.
In baseball, we will be introducing an entirely
new division this spring--called 8-year-old kid pitch, which is designed to provide a smoother transition between the machine pitch that is played at the Rookies
level and the more challenging Minors division. We will also be holding
a number of new skills clinics for baseball players, including a pitching skills clinic taught by professional
instructors, as well as training sessions for all of our coaches.
BBSC this spring also welcomes for the first time the baseball
players and coaches from Broadneck Select, which has merged with and is now a part of BBSC. BBSC now offers our baseball players the opportunity to play
full-time travel baseball as a Select player at the U-10, U-11, U-12, U-13 and U-14 age groups. We will also offer members
the chance to play on BBSC tournament teams, in which selected
players from our recreation league will play in interleague tournaments and represent BBSC in the post-season Cal Ripken
and Babe Ruth tournaments.
In softball, BBSC is a member of the North County Community
Girls Softball League, a recreational girls fast-pitch softball league serving northern Anne Arundel County, and which plays
under the rules of PONY Girls Softball. As we did last year, we will enroll our 10-U, 12-U, 14-U and high-school eligible
age softball teams in NCCGSL and will continue to host an interleague 8-U coach pitch softball league with participation in
the NCCGSL Classics tournament. This year we will also provide an opportunity for selected 12-U players to participate
on a tournament team in addition to their recreation league team. As with baseball, BBSC will be providing more training
and clinic opportunities for the girls this season.
We are here to teach baseball and softball skills to all of the children playing
in BBSC in a supervised and safe environment, no matter what age or what level of ability.
It is our goal to help all of our players reach their potential. We also believe
in teaching our members good sportsmanship, honesty, integrity and respect. Most
of all, we want our players to have fun, because that is the most important reason to be playing baseball and softball.
I look forward to seeing you all on the diamond this spring. It's time to play ball.
Sincerely,
Bob LaRussa, BBSC President
